Marvelous Mondays Organizational Challenge Update

Last week I posted about Victoria Hudgins and her fabulous AltSummit class on digital organization. While I haven’t been posting as often as I would like, I have been working on organizing my life!

I finally have my office cleaned up and it’s helped me to dig into my digital organization with fervor. I don’t believe in following the rules, so I have decided to do my 10 days throughout the month of July. I’m impressed with myself…I normally would’ve put this off until the 31st and then spent all night working on it. Well, no more!

 10 Day Digital Organizational Challenge

1. EmailThis took me about 4 pain-staking hours, but I can finally see when a REAL LIFE PERSON emails me. Everything else gets filtered into my 200+ folders.
2. News Feed (Web-based Aggregator)I haven’t used Google Reader for ages because it was so overwhelming. This isn’t the case any more! I now have a handy, dandy Weekly (10 blogs), Monthly (30 blogs) and Just Because folder.
3. CalendarThis was pretty much already set up, but I cleaned up a few things in my calender.
4. Social MediaI decided to use Hootsuite. I’m still playing with all of the features, but it seems fabulous that I can set up a tweet and Facebook post for the morning (scheduled to post at the same time as my blog posts).
5. DesktopAll cleaned up! All of those stray items were properly placed into their folders in my docs.
6. List MakingI am using Evernote & I love it!
7. Inspiration Private
8. Inspiration Public My Pinterest is organized and pretty with folder!
9. A Plan for Reviews I added a calendar appointment for the first Monday of every month to check off each of these items. (Does that mean I get to buy myself something pretty every month?)
10. Buy yourself something pretty! I’m thinking that a new living room rug might just be the ticket! More on that later this week.

I only need to work on setting up my Evernote with blog ideas and pictures for future blog posts and projects…and then I can buy myself something fabulous!
