DIY Blogger Chair

DIY Blogger Chair

I had a good number of people to ask me how I created the Blogger Chair. I posted it on Tuesday’s Getting Organized, Cont’d post where I finished up explaining how to organize your digital world. It is so simple

Original chair

I got the idea to create a blogger chair from a fellow blogger, the name of which I have racked my brains and cannot remember! If anyone has seen this chair before, please let me know so that I may give credit where it is due.

I loved the message and the way that this chair showed the depth and design on this classic chair properly. I loved it, but it doesn’t exactly go with my design style. So I decided that the sincerest form of flattery is imitation!

Inspiration

I got started in my handy dandy work space with an example of what I wanted my chair to look like. I scoured the interweb for hours searching for “Modern Chair Silhouette” until I came across this gorgeous silhouette. I love pretty much everything that  Eero Saarinen designed, and I guessed that this Organic Armchair was a pretty recognizable mid-century modern chair. I thought it would be simple enough for me to do quickly and would be something fun to post on my site! I printed this picture (it doesn’t matter if it is pixilated since you are tracing it) and broke out the tracing paper.

My work space

I used a pencil because I am notorious for needing to erase. It has been a bit since I sat for any amount of time with tracing paper and a pencil, so I forgot to keep my hand from resting on the paper, and I ended up with a few smudges (thank you, Photoshop!). After I finished writing out my blogging phrases, I scanned this in and voila…here you have it!

Think outside the box – you can take any silhouette and write a message inside of it. You could even do this in vibrant colors for beautiful homemade wall art!

What will you do with this idea? Get creative with it!
